Life is Beautiful

Our summer morning light is beautiful.

It spills through the windows, welcoming little eyes to the day....

but the truth is that even though this scene looks calm and serene, the mornings are a loud chaotic mess of whiny kids that didn't sleep long enough and a grumpy Momma who just wants a moment's peace to drink her coffee while it's still hot lukewarm.

I am really. looking. forward. to. school.
I like the structure, I like our routines, I like that they have fun playing with their friends and that I can actually go to the store without little people running up and down the aisles and ramming mini carts in to people (and then scolding them "watch where you are going!" *finger wag*) and asking a dozen times for colored goldfish.

Breaks are good for everyone, and I'm looking forward to a little kid break, to get more housework done.....yippee.

So, we got the new shoes.

Well, Jaxon got new new shoes, and Penelope got Jaxon's old one but she loves them and they are new to her.

They are both faster now.

Irene showed up, we got her more calm, more beautiful side. The one that reminds me that with every storm comes beauty....somewhere. We had front row seats to this light show....and FYI, this is raw, absolutely no saturation, or color booster, this is the real deal, baby.

Seeing the reality of the earthquakes and hurricanes this week, reminded me that our own little quakes, the one that seem earth shattering, are really very small, and that despite a few set backs here and there, we have been given such a beautiful little life. I don't know how many times I said this weekend, "I love this, I love this stage, I love our perfect little life."

And in our life, there is lots of end-of-summer watermelon....

And this weekend was filled with our favorite summer rituals...

Polo.

The Orchard.

Pool.

We ended the weekend with the BEST BBQ in the world...

it seriously does not get better than a huge smoker on the side of the road...

delish.

And of course, no summer weekending would be complete without tutu biking. A sport unique to Penelope.

Goodbye, Summer. It's been fun, see you next year!

What happened to Jaxon's hair???? Looks like some scissor action - guess you can't complain when I take him for a haircut. :) Love the picture of that brilliant sky -and the tutu sport - so cute - and Lucy and watermelon. Miss you all.
