Sick and Summer

Sick decided to stay a while. He has moved on from Jaxon, who has bounced back 100% to Little Lulubooboo and it's no wonder that between feeling under the weather, the welcoming of teeth numbers 3,4 and 5, and an unconventional introduction to the edge of the coffee table (courtesy, Penelope) her favorite place seems to be right here....






we've moved up from the normal sized bjorn to the huge baby size bjorn....because even Penelope gets sick once in a while....


I love how her fat legs wrap around me like she's a little koala....

The template for most days here in paradise is school, lunch, pool, repeat. My kids are natural water babies and despite the religious reapplication for 50+ SPF once every hour, their little pale bodies have turned a nice golden brown so much so that when they are bare, they still look like they are wearing bright white suits. (Pictures spared.)

But every once in a while, the rain will come pouring in from over the mountain, a beautiful site to behold, and our pool fun has to wait. Nonetheless, the kids crave the water, and they'll take it in any form.


So while I sit, I watch as my tiny dancer dances in the drops.....and can I just point out...look at the RUNNING FORM!!! Blessed be the day she starts hurdles. (I knew from her first ultrasound and the grand length of her skinny little femurs that one day, she too, would be a force to be reckon with.)







and I watch as our sky dresses in Care-a-lot couture,


and my babies in their swim/rain gear




and I love it.


Trailing the showers is the bright, golden sun and then the kids decide being outside is no more fun....the puddles dry up, the tiny rivers for leaf boats shrink, leaving the leaf boats docked uncomfortably in the gutter and abandoned,


and so we venture back inside, usually collapsing into a heap somewhere, drained from the effort of having so much fun...


and we wait for tomorrow....
